Minority Report Screens are Becoming a Reality

You remember when Tom Cruise was in Minority Report? There in police HQ he had pretty much the most amazing screen for getting through information. He was pulling documents up from the ether, and we were all amazed at the possibilities. Well… the person who made that idea up has now begun the first step to putting it into practice. Check this out, and be awed by how futuristic humanity is these days.

    John Underkoffer came to visit our class and talked about this interface… brilliant guy. There’s a long way to go before this is ready for any affordable comsumer use though… notice that these demos are all done in super-dark uncluttered rooms, essentially VR caves.

    But yeah, it’s badass what you can do with LED’s / infrared, a detector and a dark room. We just need designers like Underkoffer to keep being creative about how to use the stuff.
