It’s just that ~ he was very much a part of my childhood. He was at his height when I was finding heroes, and he became one of those people I wanted to emulate. Then later on when he fell from grace and became human it was hard to remember what I had found in him that was so important to begin with. It goes without saying that he cared about humanity and his fans. That I do know and have always seen. What follows are the 10 most memorable moments in my life with Michael Jackson. Captain EO is amazing. And I totally remember this moment in the making of Thriller doc where they're in dance rehearsal and Michael starts goofing around and does a run and slide across the floor. It's incredibly sad to see all the archival footage of his performances being played on a loop on the news. But it's also still a little mind blowing to realize (or re-realize) how incredibly gifted he was. So many of us get caught up in this subculture bickering about the nature of music and which bands suck, who's a poser, who's legit... but when I listen to Michael, I just hear music. It makes you feel good, it makes you move, it totally makes you nostalgic and you start remembering random moments from his music videos (I just rewatched Smooth Criminal on YouTube... it's still awesome). For all his troubles, he was an amazing talent. I was definitely a fan. I love this list. Captain EO is amazing.
