I was also very saddened by hearing the news yesterday about Reading Rainbow. So many memories of watching Geordie (ahem, Levar) exploring strange new worlds of books... I learned how to make a pizza from one of the episodes!

And you are right, how cool that young people themselves were respected in the show to give book reviews. As Levar said, "You don't have to take MY word for it..." Go Reading Rainbow for youth empowerment!

I'm ready to buy the DVDs...

RIP Reading Rainbow. You were always a bastion of good books, good looks, and Mr. Laforge.

I loved the story of Ferdinand as a kid. I can't remember if Reading Rainbow or Scholastic turned me onto it. I want to get exactly the same tattoo Elliott Smith has.

So depressing! But oh my god, you've brought back so many memories with those books! Free to Be You And Me is one of my all-time favorites, especially the film version with Marlo Thomas and Mel Brooks... oh my god, so much happiness!

A sad day for the young and the young at heart...

Oh no! That's somehow sadder than all the celebrity deaths combined...

Did you read the NPR article- the Bush administration is indirectly responsible for this!

When does it end, W?! Is Sesame Street next?!?
