Being a "total movie nerd', I have been searching for "real" IMAX theaters for a while. Living in Philadelphia, the closest IMAX theater we've had for a while has been in the Franklin Institute in Philly or the AMC IMAX in King of Prussia, PA. They've recently opened a few more "IMAX" theaters around here, but they are in no way even close to being the "IMAX Experience" of their bigger screened brethren.

I wish and hope that IMAX wouldn't whore their name out to just any theater, and would at least put a minimum screen size for certain theaters. I do understand that the theaters size is taken into consideration, but with almost every BIG movie coming out being shot and screened in 3D coming up, it makes sense that they should lockdown who is using the name. Also, keep in mind that IMAX is the older 3D tech of the three out there (RealD3D being second, Dolby 3D being the latest). They other two are better for smaller screens, so perhaps they should convert these theaters to that tech instead?

Yea. Anyway, great rant Julia.
