M. Night Throws a Hissy!

So, M. Night got a little peeved at a reporter in Mexico for calling him a sell-out and a hack… or maybe his hackness came up first, then sell-out.  Whatever, potato, poh-tah-toh.

His response is kind of hilarious.  He leads off with, “If I thought like you, I’d kill myself.”  Um… okay.  He’s also understandably defensive about the reporter’s criticisms, which keeps the laughs going (in my head)… mostly because he counters by naming The Village as the crown jewel of his body of work.  Wha….?

M. Night, I see an open letter in your future (but I agree, Unbreakable kicks ass).

  1. You know ~ While I agree with the person speaking about where M. Night's career has gone to… I think he does a really good job of stating his case for why that kind of thinking would be suicidal to him. Although, I do sort of hope he wakes up to the fact that his movies aren't very good, and haven't been since Unbreakable. It does kind of scare me that he thinks the Village was his best. Does that make Signs his second favorite? Followed by Lady in the Water? Followed by Avatar? Followed by 6 Sense… and finally Unbreakable (which I kind of agree is his best)?

Because then – it's just a taste issue.

you know, honestly, I had the same reaction. I think the reporter was also just trying to be an a**hole by ambushing him and he kept his cool, which I totally commend.

he has every right to disagree with his critics and the whole trading his salary for sequel rights is actually kind of a cool move for the people who DO like post-Unbreakable work.
