This is just gorgeous. I actually did some work with Bill Viola last year… one of his current projects is a meditative game collaboration with the IMD called The Night Journey. So I ended up working on a whole mess of unreleased and/or unfinished footage from the man… water bubbles, expanding pieces of bread on a table, and HOURS of his pregnant wife walking around naked, glaring occasionally at the camera with a resentment I don’t think was entirely Acting.
My job was to log and edit the clips together for reference imagery, which takes some of the joy and wonder out of the process. It’s really nice, with some distance from that, to see a piece in it’s final form and appreciate his vision again.
