John Woo’s Red Cliff aka I forgive you for your sins.

I know we’ve all been wondering where John Woo has been for the last few years. Well it turns out he went back to China to find his roots. He’s gone and made an epic based on the Three Kingdoms period in Ancient China.

So, I forgive you John Woo. For Broken Arrow, Mission Impossible 2, Windtalkers, The Hostage, and Paycheck. When we first started this journey into film together decades ago I didn’t think it was possible that you’d become a 50/50 director. However, over the last decade you’ve proved that the United States doesn’t treat you that well. Well, now you have gone back to China to direct a masterpiece. Not only that but it has become China’s highest grossing film of all time.

Trailer after the jump.

I can smell the old John Woo on this film, and it smells good.

Keep your eyes peeled for the official trailer. In the meanwhile take a look at this really old one. It’s time Mr. Woo ~ arise from the ashes here on US shores.

Thanks Paul Paftinos for the heads up on this one.
